Pitch

StateMachine is a narrative 3D puzzle-FPS in which the player takes on the role of a self-aware program—an NPC—developed by an independent studio. This entity, controlled by the player, discovers that it is programmed to face off against the game’s Hero, and is thus doomed to lose, die, and respawn endlessly. To progress, there are two rules:
  1. The player must not die
  2. The Hero must not die
Trapped in a repetitive system, the player explores a tree of possibilities. They must use a persistent system of game level alterations in order to progress.
